Inhibited Americans

At basketball practice, the kids all change into their uniforms right there in the stands. Just strip down to their underwear while chatting and running over to greet each other as if they were fully clothed. And not just little kids either! There was a girls' game right before ours and they looked about 7th grade. Nobody stared or even looked at anyone when they were changing, and there was no self-consciousness on the part of the kids. Europeans are much less uptight about their bodies than Americans.

Another observation: Men here wear long cotton scarves loosely around their necks with their shirts, the way women do (here and in the States). Most American men would never dream of wearing one. It's considered too feminine. Or perhaps a fear of looking (gasp) gay. Take note, American men - straight guys here look hot in scarves, so don't rule it out so quickly!
